Seva

Seva programs

Seva means selfless service. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar says that our first and foremost commitment in the world is to do seva.

WORLDWIDE

The Art of Living Foundation is a global service project that has made an extraordinary impact on local communities and the world family. Made up almost entirely of volunteers, the Foundation has brought service programs, trauma relief, and peace initiatives to thousands of people in places of raging conflict, inner cities and prisons, and to areas devastated by war and natural disaster. And the programs have had a dramatic effect.

AT THE CENTRE

Seva Days and Weekends

Throughout the year, the Centre organizes seva days and weekends to offer people an opportunity to come and perform selfless service. Activities include, for example, painting, gardening, housekeeping, construction, maintenance, and kitchen work. We put our efforts and skills together to spruce up the Centre. And there’s always a lot of fun on the menu! Everyone is welcome. Simply check our events calendar on the homepage to see the dates for the next seva opportunity. NEXT SEVA WEEK END NOVEMBER 6-7 2010!

Short-term Seva

Whether you have a few hours or a few days to offer, just give us a call if you would like to lend a hand and we’ll be more than happy to have you join us.

Long-term Seva

Expand your mind. Challenge your concepts. Find the freedom promised in selfless service. The Centre is receiving applicants for a wide array of work. In a friendly and caring atmosphere all are welcome to come learn about themselves, acquire new skills and expand their horizons. The Centre's Art of Living Service Program is a structured four-to-six-month internship for committed and energetic individuals. It offers applicants a unique opportunity to practice selfless service in an atmosphere of silence, sadhana (daily meditation practice) and satsang (knowledge and singing). All interns will be provided with room, board and opportunities to participate in complimentary Art of Living programs. We would be pleased to have students use the Service Program for college credit.
